Almost a fifth of projects receive funding from DHIS2

### Introduction The Digital Health Atlas (DHA) is an open-source web platform designed to support governments, technologists, implementers and donors to better coordinate digital health activities globally. The web platform is a WHO global technology registry used to document all the digital health platforms being used by different global projects. ### Top donors An initial review of DHA projects demonstrates that 17% of all projects are funded in part by DHIS2. This is about 130 projects out of the 740 recorded within the registry. The top donors following DHIS2 include USAID, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and WHO as well as funding related to COVID-19. It is also interesting to note that 13% of projects explicitly noted that there was no donor funding. ### DHIS2 and USAID stand as major donors across Africa and Asia It is important to note that 78% of projects in DHA are either in Asia or Africa likely due to underreporting of projects in other regions. Looking at donors by region, it is clear that a majority of projects are funded by DHIS2 and USAID outside of Covid-19 specific funding. Using the map below, it is easy to see the countries with projects funded by donor using the donor filter. ### Projects with an infectious disease focus are the most funded Most donors within the DHA registry are funding projects related to infectious disease, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Specifically, USAID funded 15% of the 173 projects focused on infectious disease while BMGF funded 12% of the 173 projects focused on WASH. It can also be noted that for NTDs COVID-19 funding accounted for 13% of 174 projects listed with the health focus area.### Most projects in the DHA registry have funding from unclear sources From review of the registry records, it is clear that a large number of have been noted to have unclear funding sources. From the top funding reported, 74.9 million clients were reached following COVID-19 related funding.### Donors are funding a variety of platforms There is a large spread of donor funding for different types of digital health platforms. One interesting thing of note is that DHIS2 is listed as a funder of it’s own platform. ## {country} ### Registry data summarytext
